Background

Dave Blake is an environmental scientist whose research bridges geospatial science, fire ecology, hydro-geochemistry and integrating knowledge systems to address pressing challenges in ecosystem resilience, land management, and climate adaptation, using transdisciplinary research methods. With a background rooted in GIS and remote sensing and a career spanning research, leadership, and applied science, his work centres on how landscapes respond to disturbance, particularly fire, drought, and thermal stress - with a strong emphasis on wetland and agricultural systems, and the nexus of human and environmental health.

As Associate Director - Research Practice for the Centre for People Place and Planet strategic research centre at ECU, Dave specialises in bringing together Traditional Custodians, academia, government, NGOs, community groups to create transdisciplinary approaches to complex environmental problems.
