Dr Caroline Hill

Caroline is a Post Doctoral Research Fellow in ECU’s Nutrition & Health Innovation Research Institute.

Background

Caroline is a Post Doctoral Research Fellow in ECU’s Nutrition & Health Innovation Research Institute. Caroline’s primary research interest is in raising the awareness and management of high lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]; an inherited risk factor for heart disease. This cholesterol-like lipoprotein is high in 20% of people, yet only ~1-2% have been tested; a lost opportunity for improved management and to lower cumulative risk exposure.

Her PhD research explored how plant-based compounds impact the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic disease, and in particular sulphur-based compounds in cruciferous vegetables (e.g., broccoli, Brussels sprouts). She has expertise in nutrition epidemiology, preclinical studies, dietary interventions, and vascular health education.

Caroline has previously worked as a Registered Nurse and owned a large nutrition and allied health clinic incorporating personalised consultations, online health and nutrition education programs, resources, and workshops.
