Dr Janica Jamieson

Janica is a Lecturer and Placement Coordinator in the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics in the School of Medical and Health Sciences.

Background

Janica is an Accredited Practising Dietitian who has worked as a senior dietitian in a wide range of clinical areas and specialised in critical care and surgical nutrition. Supervising students in her role as a clinical dietitian inspired Janica to join the ECU Master of Nutrition and Dietetics team as the Placement Coordinator and Lecturer in 2012. Janica is responsible for the coordination of the hospital-based placement and teaching assessment skills to dietetic students. As an educator, Janica is passionate about enabling student agency to enhance the meaning of learning experiences and promote student self-regulation and lifelong learning skills. Her teaching approach equips students with the capabilities and mindset to thrive in the workforce.

Research Areas and Interests

Janica’s primary research interest lies in health professions education, particularly the evaluation and application of programmatic assessment, which was the focus of her doctoral research. She also collaborates with clinical dietitians to explore current issues in acute and critical care nutrition.
