Ms Gemma Jenkins

Gemma is a Course Coordinator and Lecturer in the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics within the School of Medical and Health Sciences.

Background

Gemma is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a passion for improving nutrition-related health at individual and community levels. With experience as a consultant dietitian in private practice, Gemma has worked across a range of nutrition-related areas, including as a sports dietitian.

As Course Coordinator for the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, Gemma aims to support students to thrive in their studies and prepare for their career as dietitians. In her teaching, Gemma is passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences across coursework and placements in community and public health nutrition. Her teaching approach emphasises collaborative learning, a mindset of continuous growth, and connecting students with real-world industry insights to support their development and transition to the workforce.

Research Areas and Interests

Gemma’s research primarily focuses on health professions education, including how to enhance education quality and the role of communities of practice in the sector. She has expertise in qualitative research, and experience with realist research methodologies.
