Associate Professor Iftekhar Ahmad

Associate Professor Iftekhar Ahmad is a teaching and research academic in the School of Engineering at Edith Cowan University, where he also served as Associate Dean (Research) from 2022 to 2024. He obtained his PhD in Communications Technologies from Monash University, Australia, in 2007.

Associate Professor Ahmad’s current research focuses on the advancement of underwater acoustic communications and green communication technologies. His research interests also encompass electric vehicle integration into smart grids, as well as second-life electric vehicle battery assessment and management. Iftekhar has led second-life EV battery research since 2012.

He served as an Associate Editor for the Australian Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (AJEEE) from 2014 to 2018 and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Associate Professor Ahmad has published over 130 research articles, including articles published by reputed journals like IEEE and Elsevier Science. He successfully completed over 12 industry-funded research projects so far. He regularly serves on various international and national conference committees in his fields of expertise.
