Dr John O’Rourke

John is Senior Lecturer in the School of Education.

Background

John is a former secondary teacher and school program coordinator, and now a Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator at ECU. He works predominately in the area of diversity and inclusivity and is a passionate advocate for individuals with additional and complex needs.

He previously coordinated the ECU Uniprep and Education Assistant programs, and has engaged in multi-institutional research around retention and opportunities for enabling students in higher education.

He is a Vice Chancellor’s award winner for Teaching and Learning and is committed to creating motivating and engaging environments for under graduate and post graduate learners. He has published and presented widely and his research interests include, inclusive practice in school and university settings, happiness and well-being, and the use of digital and games technology in education.
