Dr Julie Boston

Julie is Director, Partnerships and Engagement in the School of Education.

She is responsible for identifying, establishing and managing appropriate key education partnerships and enterprise-related programs that drive the School of Education’s strategic priorities and relevant University performance targets.

Julie leads the Children’s University Western Australia Partnership (CUWAP) for ECU. This pre-access equity program aims to nurture young children's aspirations and celebrate their learning beyond the classroom. Julie also leads the Partners in Literacy and Numeracy (PLaN) program, a service learning initiative for pre-service teachers at ECU.

Background

She has a strong science education and pedagogy background, with research expertise in gaming and immersive technologies to support teaching and learning across disciplines. Her work focuses on using innovative approaches to transform 21st-century learning environments, as demonstrated by her leadership in the Technology and Education Research Community and her membership in ECU’s Simulation and Immersive Technology Research Group. Her applied research has been widely recognised, earning awards for innovation and collaboration and informing her ability to design and deliver impactful equity and service learning initiatives.

  • 2024 - ECU: To bring the Skeletal Central immersive digital educational resources to market, School of Education, $13,000.
  • 2019 - ECU: To bring the Farm-to Fork digital game to market, School of Medical and Health Sciences School Collaboration Grant. $10,000.
  • 2016 – ECU: Development of a science subject portal for short courses, Strategic Initiative Fund (SIF) . $150,000.
