Biography

Tanzim is a dedicated lecturer in law. She has completed her PhD from Macquarie University, Australia specialising in climate change law. Her research focused on the integration of climate and development approaches for sustainable coastal management. Driven by a deep passion for addressing environmental legal challenges, Tanzim’s work delves into climate change adaptation strategies, carbon rights, coastal zone management, policy considerations regarding Genetically Modified (GM) food, pesticide regulations, and more. Her recent studies have examined the implications of COVID-19 restrictions on human rights, the human rights impact of climate change, and the experiences of migrant women in Australia. Tanzim has presented her research at prestigious international conferences and her work has been published in reputable journals.

A dedicated educator, Tanzim’s teaching philosophy prioritises student-centered learning. She is also interested in contract law and legal education, aiming to integrate research findings into her teaching approach. In recognition of her significant contributions to teaching, she received the ‘Teaching and Learning Award for Impact on Learning’ from the School of Business and Law in 2023. Additionally, Tanzim serves as the law Course Coordinator, a member of the SBL AI Consultative Committee at ECU, and is affiliated with the Australian and New Zealand Society of International Law and the Asian Society of International Law (AsianSIL).
