Dr Muhammad Aftab Alam

Dr Alam is a lecturer in Strategy and International Business at the School of Business and Law.

Biography

Dr Alam holds a PhD in Management from Macquarie University (2020), in which he investigated innovation ecosystems in Silicon Valley (USA) and Sydney (Australia). He has a dual MBA in HRM and Finance and is a recipient of a Gold Medal for securing 1st position with High Distinction.

Dr Alam brings more than twenty years of industry knowledge from different cultures and sectors including military, aviation, meteorology, and gemology. He has served as a professional military pilot, aircraft accident investigator, and safety auditor. Dr Alam also worked at the United Nations mission in Northeast Africa.

He has taught several units at the University of Sydney Business School, Macquarie Business School, and the University of Technology Sydney Business School. His teaching covers areas like international business, strategic management, entrepreneurship, and research methods.

His research interests are in open innovation ecosystems, strategy, international business, and aviation safety. He has published on these topics in several journals, including Academy of Management Discoveries, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Management and Organization, Strategic Change, and Journal of Air Transport Management.
