Associate Professor Margaret Giles

Dr Margaret Giles is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Arts and Humanities.

Background

Dr Margaret Giles was previously a Senior Lecturer (2008-2017) and Associate Professor (2017-2018) in the School of Business and Law at ECU. Margaret has worked in research, policy, and planning positions in State and Federal Governments and the not-for-profit sector, as well as in teaching and research positions within private and public universities. She is a member of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Perth-based Independent Centre for Not-for-Profit Research and a member of the Geneva-based committee of the Hegg Hoffet Fund for Displaced Women Graduates.

  • Determining the effectiveness of correctional education and training (with WA Department of Justice)
  • Correcting for selection bias in the estimation of regression equations using Heckman’s two stage technique and the Blinder-Oaxaca decomposition method
  • Meta regression analysis and correction for publication bias in quantitative systematic reviews
